A demonstration General Motors circuit board will be used to illustrate circuit board function. This course is designed for entry-level technicians or students who need an understanding of the basics of automotive electronics.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS:

CDX is an electronic text that is supplied to you upon course registration.

None: However, there is a $10 materials fee (shop card) to be paid at the cashier’s office. Make sure this is paid to this class and the Auto Tech account #4200 at the first meeting. Failure to pay this fee will put a hold on your grades, records, and transcripts!

ATTENDANCE POLICY:

Attendance on campus is mandatory for ALL class dates listed in the course syllabus. If you miss any classes, you will not pass the course and will not be able to achieve certification of completion of the course. Class times may be made up per arrangement with the Instructor.

 GRADING POLICY:

There will be three exams for this course—two mid-terms and a final. The two mid-term tests will be hands-on exercises that mimic the “hands-on” portion of the on-line course material, and will be conducted here on campus. The final exam is the final exit exam that is part of the on-line course material. In order to receive a certificate of completion, the student MUST complete all assigned coursework and pass each exam by 70% or better.

As far as college credit is concerned, grades will be based off of a straight percentage as follows:

 A: 90% to 100%

B: 80% to 89%

C: 70% to 79%

D: 60% to 69%

F: 59% and Below

SPECIAL NEEDS POLICY:

If a student requires special needs for learning, it is their obligation to inform the instructor. Special needs include, but not limited to, closed captioned video or disabled student assistance. The instructor assumes no responsibility in assessment of students’ needs. You must inform the instructor if you are under a licensed doctor’s care, or if taking any medications that could impair your ability to operate equipment and/or machinery. Failure to do so is a reason for the instructor to drop you from the class at any time.

This is a tentative schedule and can be changed as needs fit. Students may arrange testing times other than listed by contacting the instructor.
