Hybrid Powertrain Electronics Diagnostics Strategies Using Multi-Meters, Mili-Ohm, Megar and Toyota
This course instructs on appropriate PPE and safety measures in maintaining, diagnosing and servicing electric drive vehicles and describes electric propulsion systems including the construction, operation, high-voltage control strategies, service tools, and Toyota scan tool data. Objectives include coverage of fundamentals of high-voltage logic, system design and operation,diagnostics, service and repair of HEVs, BEVs, PHEVs. Proper safety measurement for each type of vehicle will be emphasized. The electric propulsion systems will be described including construction, operation, control strategies, service tools, scan tool data, and basic diagnostic fundamentals. Secondary power systems, such as (but not limited to) electric power steering and electric air conditioning compressors, will be explained. The course has a heavy incorporation and concentration on hands-on shop time and lab activities including working directly with hybrid vehicles, removing and reinstalling of major electric drive vehicle components, and working with benchtop vehicle components.
