Course Description:
This class is an introduction to the concepts and tools of Microeconomic analysis.
Central topic of study is price theory including supply and demand and marginal analysis. Topics covered include imperfect competition, antitrust, regulation, environmental economics, the distribution of income and efficient resource use.

Note: In order to access this course, you must obtain access to a computer with a connection to the World Wide Web.  Though the college offers many computers for student use, it is your responsibility to secure access to a computer with a connection to the World Wide Web.

Warning: This is NOT a self paced course. There are firm deadlines in this class. There are weekly assignments due at 11:45 pm on Sundays. Please plan your time carefully! this is not a self paced class!

Assignments & grading: In this class we will use an exciting new technology called Aplia for homework assignments and Blackboard to complete discussion postings, and to submit one investigative assignment.

Note: Students who do not log into Aplia by the second week will be dropped from the class. you will be dropped if you do not register for aplia!

Announcements: All announcements for this class are made in Blackboard and Aplia system. You are responsible to log in and get the information. The “I did not know” excuse will not be accepted.

All announcements and due dates are posted in Aplia. Excuses for late work will not be accepted!

GRADING PHILOSOPHY: This class is set up to imitate the real business world. There are no exam as there are no exam in real life. This class looks at how productive are you in Aplia, same as your boss would look at how productive are you at work. You have to communicate your understanding through discussion board postings. The grading is set up to look at your overall performance. Failing or doing an excellent job on a single assignment will NOT matter, but the pattern of your overall performance will!

Modifications and Disclaimer: The instructor reserves the right to modify the content of the course or any course procedure. It is the responsibility of the student to keep apprised of all changes. If the student wishes to drop the class he/she is responsible for initiating the paperwork. Do not take it for granted that you will be dropped. If you stop working and do not drop the course, you may get an undesirable grade.
